Feasibility Study for a Mechanical-biological Waste Treatment Plant in Phitsanulok, Thailand

In the scope of the GTZ sector project Mechanical Biological Waste Treatment the Municipality of Phitsanulok, Thailand, has been identified as a MBT pilot project. In 1999 a feasibility study has been conducted for a MBT plant at the Phitsanulok landfill site. The investigations concerning the feasibility covered technical, ecological, social and economic aspects. The large scale pilot project has been implemented in 2001 in cooperation between Faber Company, GTZ and Phitsanulok Municipality.

In 2002 the pilot project has been evaluated, showing that MBT can considerably reduce landfill emissions without adding substantial costs. Results of the pilot project are published in the final report of the MBT sector project, which also has been conducted by Infrastruktur & Umwelt.
