Feasibility Study for a Solid Waste Management Project in Qena Governorate, Egypt

Within the Egyptian-German development co-operation, the German Government is supporting the Egyptian strategy of exploring and implementing options to enhance private sector participation in the solid waste management sector on the level of governorates. The Consortium IGIP-IU-Rodeco-Aldar has been assigned to elaborate a feasibility study regarding this issue for the Governorates of Qena.

The objective of the study is “Improvement of the health, environmental and economic conditions in the project area through the establishment of a safe, cost-efficient and sustainable solid waste management system”.

Besides the technical aspects other important issues are the strengthening of the institutional capacities and the cost recovery schemes.
