Concept and Feasibility Study of a Solid Waste Management Project for the Metropolitan Municipality of Samsun and Neighbouring Districts


The Metropolitan Municipality of Samsun is intending to implement an advanced cost-efficient and environmental-friendly Solid Waste Management System in the region of Samsun. The concept and the related technical and non-technical measures had to be harmonized with the District Municipalities of Samsun and the 12 Neighbour Municipalities.

 

Within the Concept Study the present system was analysed and an advanced solid waste management system was developed identifying appropriate solutions for the Samsun region. The approved recommendations of the Concept Study Report were elaborated up to a feasibility level to clarify their technical and economical feasibility considering their socio-economic and environmental impacts making a financial assessment of the related costs possible.

Results

Investment project including new collection vehicles and bins, one transfer station and a sanitary landfill.
Establishment of a regional association.
Training measures for the municipal staff.
