Flood Risk Management Plan and Environmental Report for the German part of the international River Basin Oder

INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT (IU) develops the Flood Risk Management Plan (FRM-Plan) for the German part of the international river basin Oder, on behalf of the Federal States Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as the Free State of Saxony. The draft of the plan has been prepared in close collaboration with the clients in the first quarter of 2015. Since 22 April, the plan is in the process of public consultation.

For Flood Risk Management Plans, a strategic environmental assessment has to be done. The expected significant environmental impacts of the implementation of the flood risk management plan are determined, described and assessed in an environmental report. The environmental report has also been developed of IU and is in public consultation together with the draft of the FRM-Plan.

Citizens and institutions have the possibility to give a statement to the environmental report and to the draft of the Flood Risk Management Plan until June 22.

In accordance with the flood risk management directive, the FRM-Plan has to be published by 22 December 2015. To ensure the compliance with this deadline, IU will evaluate the responses after public consultation has closed, and make adjustments in close consultation with the clients as applicable.
