German Project Excellence Award: Flood Risk Management in Baden-Württemberg

INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT congratulates the regional council Stuttgart being awareded the German Project Excellence Award for the project “Flood Risk Management Baden-Württemberg”.

Within the 32nd International Project Management Forum in Nuremberg on October 27, 2015, the „GPM Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement e. V.“ (German Project Management Association - GPM) awarded the German Project Excellence Award to the regional council Stuttgart for the project “Flood Risk Management in Baden-Württemberg”. The jury emphasised the project as an excellent example of quality improvement in public projects by using project management methods.

Markus Moser, the project manager at the regional council Stuttgart, received this award. INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT congratulates on this confirmation of anticipatory, effective and sustainable work and is delighted to support this project for a long time, apparently successfully. This support started with the elaboration of the guideline “Flood Risk and Strategies to reduce Damages in Baden-Württemberg” in 2002 and the SAFER-project (“Strategies and Actions for Flood Emergency Risk Management”), which started in 2003. With the support of the professional management of the flood risk management planning in Baden-Württemberg, the work was successfully continued. Besides the engaged responsible persons of the Ministry of Environment, the regional councils and the State Agency for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation (“Landesanstalt für Umwelt, Messungen und Naturschutz LUBW”), also the project management by VS Consulting Team GmbH significantly contributed to the success of the flood risk management project.

The project “Flood Risk Management Baden-Württemberg”, as well as the projects „Feste Fahrbahn Gotthardtunnel“, „BMW-Werk Brasilien“ and „Bürgerbeteiligung Südlink“, were nominated for the German Project Excellence Award out of more than 70 projects. The laudation highlighted the variety of involved participants as well as the complex relationships between water policy requirements, legal framework and the different participant’s action approaches.
