Adaption to climate change in Fischbachtal – Walkabout in Niedernhausen, 10th June 2017

Is Fischbachtal prepared for the challenge of climate change?

Which adaptation measures can be implemented by each and every one of us as well as by the municipality, to stop or minimize the negative impacts of climate change?

Which risks and opportunities for our everyday lives arise from the climatic changes?

These questions were the starting point for a critical and creative walkabout through Niedernhausen, in which climate-relevant locations like green spaces and development areas were visited. The event took place in the context of the association “Fischbachtal kreativ”, a local initiative for sustainable development.

Stefanie Weiner from INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT, who was joined by Stephan Kühn of the municipal administration Fischbachtal, led through the district Niedernhausen and explained the background of climate change as well as adaptation options for the municipalities and for citizens.

The conclusion:

The walkabout showed the participants the privileged position of Fischbachtal. No citizen of Fischbachtal has to fear climate change, but far-sighted planning and preparation is still recommended, as a municipality but also as an individual.
