Perception Towards Environmental and Waste Related Problems in Berat Region, Albania – A Questionnaire

A survey on current public awareness and perception of solid waste management (SWM) services in Berat Region, Albania has been carried out through interviews. They were performed by a group of 20 college students from Berat in February 2020 after receiving training on planning and conducting surveys on SWM issues. A total of 202 citizens in Berat Region were interviewed, 70% of them living in urban areas and 30% in rural areas. The interviews were analysed and evaluated and gave insight on most relevant topics for the citizens and their perception on their role and possibility in environmental protection and SWM. They also highlighted different focal points for intervention in the Municipalities and correlation between demographic data and possibility to participate in solving environmental problems, showing, the surveyed younger people see more possibility than older interviewees. Overall, the gained results of the survey will be integrated in the further activities of the project.

The municipalities of Berat Qark, Albania: Berat, Kuçovë, Ura Vajgurore, Poliçan and Skrapar are implementing an Integrated Waste Management Project funded by Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, supported by INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT, in cooperation with SEHLHOFF, Germany and FLAG, Albania.
