EU project Climate Active Neighbourhoods becomes RegioStar Award finalist

The INTERREG-project Climate Active Neighbourhoods has been named one of five finalists in the Building Climate Resilient Cities category of the EU-wide Regiostar Award. The REGIOSTARS are Europe’s awards for the most innovative, regional projects. CAN was selected for its bottom-up measures to empower residents and build collaboration with municipalities. CAN successfully tackled a range of issues related to energy efficiency, energy poverty and local responsibility. For successful implementation of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, it is fundamental to involve neighbourhoods and their residents. One example is the support provided by the municipality of Arnhem to neighbourhood initiatives by its climate bus (see also photo)

As a finalist, CAN is now in the running to win a RegioStar Award on 9 October.

Since 2016, INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT Professor Böhm und Partner (IU) supports the CAN project partnership in developing the successful application, coordination of project activities as well as finance and project management of the INTERREG project.
